Your wedding photography

Before your wedding

Your day, and how I'll photograph it

Hi,

It's time to start planning how we'll capture your day at its very best.

Think of this as a guide rather than a shot list. It walks through the most important parts of your day, how I'll photograph each one, and a few questions so I can plan everything around the two of you.

You can come back to it any time between now and your wedding day. If anything doesn't make sense, reply to my email or give me a call and we'll talk it through.

    Part one

    Your style

There are moments on a wedding day that require direction from your photographer, in particular your portrait time. How that direction is given depends on your style and how you would like to see yourselves in photographs.

Move the dot to where you feel most like yourselves. There's no wrong answer. Between now and your wedding day, we'll work together to find the style that fits you best.

Completely observed. No interference from the photographer.Structure, posture, curation and direction.

    How it should feel

Which words fit the photographs you want? Pick as many as you like
    Or upload your moodboard (optional)
Is there a coordinator on the day?
Have you invested in an element of the day that you'd like me to prioritise time capturing? It helps me plan how much time each part needs.

      Part two

      Getting ready

      Documentary

The objective here is to give you the time and space to get ready with your loved ones around you, captured naturally. I'll guide where it helps, but direction is kept to a minimum. We want this to be authentic, with all the raw emotion.

When I arrive, the first thing I do is start with your flat lay details. Here are some ideas of what to have ready:

SuitCologne, cufflinks, watch, shoes, belt, tie
DressPerfume, jewellery, rings, flowers, your invitation

Hot tipEverything gathered in one spot before I arrive, and a room by the window with the overhead lights off.

I'll spend 1 hour with each of you, one after the other, and we'll confirm who's first together.

      Part three

      Ceremony

      Documentary

From the entrance through to the end of the ceremony, when you're hugging and kissing your guests, I'll be capturing every moment in a documentary style.

Hot tipTake your time walking down the aisle, and again when you exit together.

Will you do a first look before the ceremony?

      Part four

      Family and groups

      Curated Candid

Hot tipSend your list two weeks out, and nominate someone who knows both families to round people up.

      Your family photo list

A Word document with your names already in it. Fill in who's in each photo, add or delete rows as you need, and send it back to me two weeks before the wedding.

How many in your bridal party on each side?

      Part five

      Cocktail hour

      Candid

This is the best opportunity to say hi to your friends and family. Hug, kiss and enjoy a moment with them. After all, they're here to see you. Cocktail hour makes a great opportunity for candid moments.

Would you like to prioritise spending time with your guests at cocktail hour? This helps me structure your portrait time around cocktail hour and the reception.

      Part six

      Portraits

      Curated Candid

Portrait time doesn't have to happen all at once. We can split it into smaller pieces across the day, say ten minutes straight after the ceremony, a few minutes whenever the light looks amazing, then another 20 to 30 minutes towards sunset.

Would you like to stay at the venue for portraits, or head somewhere else? Most couples stay on site, it keeps you close to your guests.

      Part seven

      Reception

      Documentary

The reception is full of documentary moments. My role is to be in the right place at the right time and take it all in: the speeches and the first dance, and just as much the quiet moments in between, a word with a guest, a look across the table, the small things you might not even notice on the night.

The time between formalities is precious. Enjoy the time mingling with your guests, and I'll be around to capture the candid moments.

Hot tipChanging outfits? Allow at least 30 minutes in the schedule for the change, and leave time afterwards, before I finish, so we can get photos of you in it. Let's build it into the timeline.

Hot tipI don't often get the time to photograph every guest at your reception. If there are particular friends or family you'd love a photo with during the reception, please let me know.

Hot tipIf you're the party-vibes type, hit that dance floor hard. The DJ will drop the bangers, and your guests will follow.

      What's happening on the night?

      Last of all

      You and your team

Full names as you'd like them written, how to reach you on the day, and the people I'll be working beside.

      Your team

If you have a wedding planner, feel free to leave this part blank. I'll get your suppliers' details from them when they put everything together and send it out, so you're not doubling up.

      Your tentative timeline

A one-page draft of your day from everything above, to share with your planner, coordinator or suppliers. It's tentative and not final, and I'll send the finished run sheet closer to the day.

      Book a catch-up with me

I'm available to catch up at any point throughout the process. If you have any questions or need to discuss anything above, feel free to book a time.
